Classic Dance Club

April 2002 Newsletter

With three dances remaining in this dance season, we still have a lot more dancing to do and a number of big events to look forward to.

Annual General Meeting

The CDC's 17th AGM will be held at 7:45pm(sharp) on Friday, May 3, 2002 at the Pensioners and Pioneers Pavilion (606 Spadina Cres. West), just before our May dance. There will be no lesson that evening. We appreciate your interest and support of the Club, so please plan to attend. As an added incentive, members who attend the AGM will be admitted to the dance for only $5! (Members must be in attendance at the beginning of the meeting in order to get this reduced rate, so please be on time.)

If you are interested in serving on the Classic Dance Club Executive please contact any member of the executive. (Serving on the Executive requires about one to two evenings per month.) We would like to convey our warmest thanks to those people who are letting their names stand as executive for the upcoming year.

17th Anniversary Ball

Our June dance is a special one and promises to be a big event! Please join us on Friday, June 7 for our 17th Anniversary Ball. Dancing will begin at 7:45pm (no lesson) with a Dance Showcase later in the evening. A special ``late lunch'' is also being planned for the evening. Come and help us celebrate our 17th year!

President's Address

Classic has had a wonderfully successful year and it has been a great pleasure to be your President. I have really enjoyed working with this year's executive. They are a hard working group who have done an outstanding job of making the change of venue an overwhelming success. The move has meant more work for them and they really have worked well as a team. I would like to extend a special thank-you to Lisa and Garry for their instruction of Classic's lessons and all the other executive members for all the numerous jobs they do.

It has also been great working with the Pensioners and Pioneers Pavilion this year. Everything has been handled professionally and they always take great care in making sure that the facility is how we would like it. They have been very helpful in making the Classic Dances successful.

This year it has been great to see the membership increase from last year and that people have really enjoyed the dances. It has been wonderful to see new people out along with the regulars. I have met and made some wonderful friendships over the years at Classic and I thank the membership for their friendliness and their support. You are what makes Classic so special!!!

Classic's 17th annual ball is coming up on June 7th and it should be another exciting evening with both wonderful dance performances from our members and a special food menu. I hope you will mark the date on your calendar and join us for the special event.

Classic's Annual General Meeting will be held on May 3rd and I hope you will attend to see what we have accomplished this year. I will be stepping down as President because my two year term is completed but will be staying on as Past President. I am pleased that all of our current executive are willing to let their names stand for next year. I thank-you for the help you have given me to make this year one of success and great memories.
