Classic Dance Club

December 2001 Newsletter

Happy Holidays!

Our best wishes for a safe and wonderful holiday are extended to all members of the Classic Dance Club. May 2002 find you in good health and prosperity!

President's Address

The Classic Executive and I wish you happy holidays and a fun filled dance season for 2002. Our change of location to the Pensioners & Pioneers has been an exciting one. We have enjoyed working with the P & P Executive and are very happy with the dance floor and the hall. The move has meant more work for the executive and I thank them for the additional effort and for their support and encouragement.

Our membership is growing this year and I would like to extend a welcome to all new members and returning members. I encourage you all to meet and introduce yourselves to new people. Classic has been a way I have made some of my most special friendships.

We have come up with a new way to promote the Classic. Jacqui has designed a flyer with our dance dates, lessons, times and location on it. If you know some people you think may be interested in Classic, please take some and pass them along. Flyers are available at our dances.

Our Annual General Meeting will be held on May 3rd and we encourage all members to come out and see how the Club runs. I would also like to extend an invitiation to people who are interested in working with Classic to talk to anyone on the executive. We have a lot of fun working together.

Our Annual Ball will be in June this year. We expect to have another invitiational showcase but details have yet to be finalized, so please continue to watch for future information. Our Annual Ball is always a wonderful event.

I am honoured to be your President this year and have enjoyed working with the members and the executive. I am looking forward to seeing you all in 2002 and hope you had a special holiday season with family and friends.

Membership Report

Membership in the club is currently at 86 people, which is almost the membership total for last year! We thank all our members for their continued support in making this club a success.

Upcoming Dance Dates and Changes

Since we were unable to rent our regular facility for an April dance, there are a few changes to the dance schedule for the end of the 2001-2002 season. The June 7 dance will be our Anniversary Ball. The Tango lesson that was scheduled for June 7 will now be given on July 5. This will be a trial run for a summer dance, and we hope it will be well received.

Our dance dates for the next dances are January 11, February 1, March 1, May 3 (AGM), June 7 (Anniversary Ball), and July 5. All of these dances will be held at the Pensioners and Pioneers Pavilion (606 Spadina Cres. West.). A reminder that the dance lessons begin at 7:45p.m., with the dance from 8:30p.m. until 12:00 midnight.

Pricing Changes

As you may already be aware, admission rates for students are now at the regular member price of $12. Students showing their student card (which must be current, valid, and from any recognized educational institution) in order to qualify for this discounted rate.
